She said, Yes! Kelsey and Dan's Engagement Blog.

As a photographer, I get the honor and privilege of capturing and documenting life stories, memories, and love. I am truly passionate about what I do, but one of my favorite sessions to document is engagement photos.

Fast forward to what I love to do even more…..Photographing an amazing friend’s engagement session. Here is where I introduce Kelsey.

Kelsey and I went to school together for years, but it wasn’t until high school when our friendship truly blossomed, or where stuff went sideways and shenanigans ensued……side note we were never arrested :) Kelsey has always been a firecracker, with an infectious personality and spunk about her; not to mention she has one of the most contagious smiles of anyone I know. No matter how long we've been apart, the moment we’re in the same room together, we pick right back up where we left off. I have had the privilege of calling Kelsey a friend for over 15 years. I’ve seen her go from the firecracker of a teenager, to an amazing mom of 2, to a glowing soon-to-be wife (to her wonderful fiancé Dan). When I took Kelsey and Dan’s photos, the love between the two was palpable. They were both ear-to-ear smiles, and laughed the whole time. I couldn’t help, but just admire at how beautiful my friend looked. She wears “being in love” so well. Dan was a great sport, as well. From piggy back rides, to whispering awkwardly into Kelsey’s ear (in his best Batman voice), to taking a photo that looks like he just dropped a sick rap album (this was not intentional, Dan was an overachiever and trying to take over the show)….I kid, I kid…. Either way, we all had a blast! You would have never known it was 32 degrees and windy. These two cuddled into together, and rocked their session. Added bonus: we made it the whole session without anyone doing the awkward “Ricky Bobby Hands”, watch Talladega Nights for reference.

I’m truly blessed and overly excited to be able to watch a life long friend start her new journey. I can’t wait to document your special day Kelsey and Dan. Kelsey you have always been an amazing daughter, mom, friend, and now you will get to add the title of amazing wife to that list. Your dad is looking down on you; I know he is smiling, and toasting to you guys.

BACK STORY:

Kelsey and Dan met while Kelsey was working at the bank. Kelsey claims he looked lost, so she needed to help him….I think she thought he was cute, and wanted to flirt…but I digress. About a year ago, Kelsey lost a wonderful man, her dad Bud. Bud was loved by many, and is truly missed. When Dan went to Kelsey’s mom ,Sue, to ask for her blessing to propose, she knew exactly what was needed. Sue gave the engagement ring Bud had given her, to propose to Kelsey with. Tear jerker……. Kelsey not only gets to marry her best friend this coming June, but she gets to wear the ring specially chosen by the man she’ll forever hold dear in her heart. Bud may not be here in person to give her away, but as she meets Dan at the alter he’ll be right by her side in spirit.
